About
The Nextdoor Foundation was founded to support local initiatives driven by trusted nonprofits and leaders directly making a big, positive impact in their communities. Through collaborations with partners and other 501(c)(3) we identify and support deserving initiatives that help build and strengthen community amongst neighbors.
At the Nextdoor Foundation we believe small gifts can inspire and empower new leaders across the country, and the world, to deepen our connections to each other and inspire kinder communities.
Volunteer Fire Department Fund
In the first half of 2025, the Nextdoor Foundation awarded $1,500 grants to 100 volunteer fire departments across the U.S., throughout the United States this year in our continued effort to support first responders and communities across the nation and provide much-needed resources and assistance to these vital services. These grants were distributed amongst the departments to support operations, purchase necessary equipment, and enhance their ability to serve and protect. These departments risk it all to safeguard lives, property, and the environment, and the Nextdoor Foundation is proud to support their critical role in our communities. See our blog post about this grant here.
“Close The Gap” Campaign
Throughout the second half of 2025, the Nextdoor Foundation is partnering with Grapevine.org on the “Close the Gap” campaign, distributing a total of $125,000 in matching funds to Grapevine Giving Circles throughout the U.S., so they can make an even bigger impact in their communities this year.As part of this partnership, five nonprofits will also be selected to receive bonus grants of up to $10,000 each so we can celebrate and elevate organizations that are going above and beyond in their communities! Learn more about this program here.
Responding to Crisis
The Foundation donated $10,000 to aid those affected by the devastating July 2025 floods in Texas. Through our partnership with Givsly, these funds go directly to trusted local organizations working on the ground – ensuring urgent support reaches the hardest-hit communities as quickly as possible. In January 2025, the Nextdoor Foundation also donated $5,000 through partner Givsly to fund donation bins for victims of the Los Angeles fires.
