About Us

Nextdoor is the neighbourhood hub for trusted connections and the exchange of helpful information, goods, and services. We believe that by bringing neighbours together, we can cultivate a kinder world where everyone has a neighbourhood they can rely on.

Building connections in the real world is a universal human need. That truth, and the reality that neighbourhoods are one of the most important and useful communities in our lives, have been a guiding principle for Nextdoor since the beginning. Neighbours in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, and Canada are using Nextdoor to:

  • Find trustworthy local services, such as babysitters, plumbers, snow plowing services and more
  • Organise neighbourhood events, such as street parties
  • Help in finding lost pets or items
  • Sell or give away items like an old kitchen table or bike

Nextdoor is a privately-held company based in San Francisco with backing from prominent investors including Benchmark, Shasta Ventures, Greylock Partners, Kleiner Perkins, Riverwood Capital, Bond, Axel Springer, Comcast Ventures and others.

Nextdoor is free, and it’s easy to sign up.

Our Manifesto

We are for neighbours.
For neighbourhood barbecues. For street parties. For borrowing a cup of sugar, and sharing a cup of tea.
We’re for slowing down, children at play.
We’re for sharing a common hedge and a great babysitter.
We’re for neighbourhood watch. For keeping an eye out for one another. And for finding a lost cat.
We believe waving hello to the new neighbour says, “Welcome” better than any doormat.
We believe technology is a powerful tool for making neighbourhoods stronger, safer and happier places to call home.
We’re all about online chats that lead to more clothesline chats.
We believe fences are sometimes necessary, but online privacy is always necessary.
We believe strong neighbourhoods not only improve our property value, they improve each one of our lives.
We believe that amazing things can happen by just talking with the people next door.

We are Nextdoor. We are simply you and your neighbours, together.

Your Privacy

Nextdoor is committed to earning trust every day. Since day one, Nextdoor has required people to use their real name and verified address, so members can trust that their Nextdoor neighbourhood is made up of real people at real addresses. This creates the trust and accountability that cultivates kindness online and into the real world. We have a dedicated Trust and Safety team to ensure that:

  • Private neighbourhood conversations are not indexed in search engines.
  • Your Nextdoor neighbourhood is protected by password and encrypted by HTTPS.
  • We do not share your name, address, or email address with advertisers.
  • We’re committed to the privacy standards established by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Australia’s Privacy Act and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
