Nextdoor announces $18.6 million in funding From Benchmark Capital, DAG Ventures, Greylock Partners and Shasta Ventures

Funding to Accelerate Rapid Growth of Private Social Network Already in Use by Over 3,700 Neighborhoods Nationwide

San Francisco, California, July 24, 2012 – Nextdoor, the private social network for the neighborhood, announced today the completion of a new round of financing from Benchmark Capital, DAG Ventures, Greylock Partners and Shasta Ventures. Allen & Company, Pinnacle Ventures and individual investors (Rich Barton, Anthony Noto and Dave Goldberg) also participated in the $18.6 million funding.

“We continue to be blown away by the response to Nextdoor from neighbors across the country. My partners and I are true believers in Nextdoor’s opportunity to bring back a sense of community to the neighborhood,” said Bill Gurley of Benchmark Capital.

Since launching in late 2011, over 3,700 neighborhoods across 48 states have quickly adopted Nextdoor to build stronger and safer places to call home. Every day, neighbors use Nextdoor to share recommendations and advice, list items for sale, organize events, help find lost pets and report crimes and suspicious activity.

“Greylock is thrilled to be investing in Nextdoor, the leader of this important new category of social networking. Facebook is the best way to connect to friends and family, and LinkedIn is the best way to connect to business contacts — now Nextdoor has created the best way to connect to neighbors,” said Greylock Partner, David Sze.

“It’s deeply inspiring to hear how neighbors are using Nextdoor to solve real-world problems and improve their lives,” noted Nirav Tolia, CEO and Co-founder of Nextdoor. “This funding will help further our mission to use the power of social networking to strengthen the neighborhood, one of the most important communities of them all.”
