Nextdoor, the world’s leading social network for neighborhoods, launches across France

The Private Social Network for Neighborhoods Surpasses 185,000 Neighborhoods in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Netherlands as Global Expansion Continues

San Francisco, CA, February 1, 2018 – Nextdoor, the world’s leading private social network for neighborhoods, today announced that it is launching across France. Nextdoor’s mission is to bring neighbors together to build stronger and safer neighborhoods all over the world. With this launch, Nextdoor has been fully localized and optimized for neighborhoods across all of France on web, iOS, and Android devices.

Nextdoor has raised over $210 million in funding and started in the United States in October 2011. Nextdoor began its global expansion in 2016, and is now used in more than 185,000 neighborhoods in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and the Netherlands.

“While technology has done an incredible job to virtually connect people across the world, there remains a universal desire to strengthen local communities. The pursuit of real world connections that builds community transcends national borders, and we’re thrilled to launch Nextdoor in France,” said Nirav Tolia, Co-Founder and CEO of Nextdoor. “We are very proud to help Nextdoor members make local connections every day that strengthen neighborhoods – one of the most important communities in our lives.”

On Nextdoor, neighbors create private and secure online communities where they can ask questions, get to know one another, and exchange local advice and recommendations. For example, neighbors in France use Nextdoor to get trusted recommendations on a babysitter or handyman, give away clothing, sell unwanted items, borrow a tool like a drill, or organize a neighborhood gathering.

Signing up for Nextdoor is easy and secure. To join Nextdoor, all members must use their real name and verify their home address. Neighborhood conversations are only accessible to verified neighbors of that neighborhood. All Nextdoor websites are password protected and neighborhood content and member information cannot be found in Google or other search engines.

“We have already seen a very positive response from neighbors in France seeking to utilize Nextdoor to build stronger local communities,” said Karim Bassiri, Country Lead of Nextdoor France . “The desire to tap into our local communities to solve everyday problems is universally appealing and we are excited to become a trusted resource to French communities across the country.”

Those interested in joining their neighborhood’s Nextdoor community in France can visit fr.nextdoor.com and enter their address to locate their neighborhood. If Nextdoor has already been started in their area, they can immediately verify and sign up. If Nextdoor has not yet been established for their area, they can easily become the Founding Member and be the one who brings Nextdoor to their neighborhood.
